District Open House
On 8/11/09, the elementary school held a warm-up lap (open house) for parents. BETA students were given the opportunity to be used as a pace car to guide parents/grandparents around the school.
Grandparent’s Day
During the week of September 15th through the 18th, the Malden School District acknowledged the grandparents of the students by providing an afternoon of winning activities. The BETA students provided a snack that served as the necessary pit stop to fuel the last few laps of the day.
Canned Food Drive
Each year Betas collect canned goods to help the Malden Ministerial Alliance. The Canned Food Drive was a huge success!
Principal’s Honor Roll Luncheon
At the end of each quarter the Malden BETAs clean the grease from their hands and serve the elementary talent a special luncheon for keeping the hammer down and staying on the lead lap (making good grades).
Science Fair
Betas set up a free blood pressure check booth at the Science Fair as a service to participants and fans as they walked laps around the exhibits.
Thanksgiving
During the holiday Betas were first in line to serve people as they enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. This was one time seconds were encouraged!
PAT Fun Night
The Malden BETA club took the lead in helping with the district Parent as Teacher’s Fun Night around Christmas. Preschool age students and their families were provided with an evening full of games, pictures, and refreshments. BETA students participated in all aspects of the evening’s events. In the circuit of service projects, Fun Night would qualify as a favorite!
Shop With a Cop and Angel Tree
BETA teamed up with local law enforcement officers to purchase Christmas presents for children in the community; they then shifted gears to work with other local businesses to make sure all the presents were wrapped!
Ringing The Bell
Even though Christmas is busy, Betas always find time to help the Salvation Army. Standing in the cold isn’t so bad when you know you’re helping the needy!
College Night
Underclassmen in BETA worked with senior class sponsors while colleges distributed information to those in the senior class.
Special Olympics
The Malden BETA Club participates in the Area Annual Special Olympic Games. BETA members became crew chiefs at each of the events. Activities for BETA members include event managers, cheerleaders, award presenters, and physical assistance. This helps give children with special needs a chance to be in the winner’s circle.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Each year during Teacher Appreciation Week, the Malden BETA Club is given the opportunity to provide refreshments for their favorite drivers (teachers) in the Malden R-1 School District. The students also provide any necessary assistance in the cockpit (classroom) that teachers may need during this championship week.
