Article I
Name
The name of this organization shall be the Malden High School BETA Club, which is a chapter of the National BETA Club.
Article II
Affiliation and Co-ordination
This Malden High School Chapter of the National BETA Club is an integral part of the central organization of the National BETA Club, and shall be governed by academic and financial policies, as well as by character development requirements laid down in the National BETA Club. Its coat-of-arms, motto, color, creed, and official insignia shall be those of the National BETA Club.
Article III
Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be the promotion of honesty, service, scholarship, leadership, and good citizenship at the Malden High School.
Article IV
Membership
The membership of this organization shall be made up from among the students of the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades of the Malden High School. Students must be approved by executive head of Malden High School because of their worthy character, good mentality, creditable achievements, and commendable attitudes, provided these students meet the requirements as set forth in the By-laws of this organization.
Article V
Officers
The officers of this chapter of the National BETA Club shall be: President, Vice-President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Reporter.
These officers, who have been members of the Malden BETA Club for at least one full year, shall be elected at the April meeting for the forth-coming year and shall be installed at the BETA Club assembly. They shall serve for one school year.
If a vacancy appears in the slate officers before the second semester begins, a special election shall be held. If a vacancy appears after the start of the second semester, the President may appoint someone to fill the vacancy until the April Election. If there becomes a vacancy in the office of President after the start of the second semester, the Vice-President shall fill the office.
The duties of the President shall be: to preside at the meetings, to appoint the committees of this chapter, to represent the organization when necessary, and to administer the policies as laid down in this constitution and its by-laws.
The duties of the Vice-President shall be to preside at the meetings when the President is absent and to perform the duties of the office: to assist in administering the affairs of the chapter serving on committees.
The duties of the secretary shall be: to keep records of membership, to record the minutes of the meetings, and to carry on necessary club correspondence.
The duties of the Treasurer shall be: to keep record of all financial matter pertaining to this organization, to collect and preserve the club’s funds, to pay out of the club’s funds the designated and necessary monies to meet the obligations of the club, to pass on to the treasurer succeeding him/her all records and funds remaining in the treasury.
The duties of the reporter shall be: to submit any club material to the National BETA Club Journal, to head the publicity Committee and be responsible for it’s duties, and write all articles that are to be published in the local and school newspaper.
Article VI
Committees
The President will appoint the committees of this chapter of the National Beta Club as they are needed.
Article VII
Meetings
Regular meetings shall be held at such times and places as shall be designated in the by-laws.
Special meetings may be called by the President after the consolation with and by the approval of the executive committee and the faculty sponsor of the club.
The public may be invited to attend any regular or special meeting of this organization if approved by majority vote at any previous meeting with a quorum present.
Article VIII
Services
Besides endeavoring at all times to be of service to Malden High School and it’s students by upholding high standards of honesty and good citizenship, this chapter of the National BETA club shall-after consultation with and upon the approval of the executive head of the high school-undertake some worthwhile service project, as designated in the by-laws.
Article IX
Amending the Constitution
The constitution of this organization may be amended by the two-thirds vote of membership at any meeting where quorum is present, provided that notice of the proposed amendment had been given at a previous meeting. |
